SNI steel, WF 150 beams, H-beam 200 columns

16 July 2026 · Fedor Vlaskin

What the Indonesian standard mark means, why we name the sections, and what an off-standard bar costs later.

The steel on site carries the SNI mark. The primary beams are WF 150 and the columns are H-beam 200.

Naming sections in public is unusual for a villa developer, and there is a reason to do it: numbers can be checked and adjectives cannot. “Premium construction” means nothing. A section size means a buyer can hand this page to any structural engineer and get an opinion.

What SNI actually is

SNI is the Indonesian national standard. For reinforcing and structural steel it covers composition, dimensional tolerance and strength, and compliant product is marked. Non-compliant bar is widely available and cheaper, and it is usually under-size: sold as one diameter, delivered a fraction thinner. Across a whole building that is a real reduction in capacity, and it is invisible once the concrete is poured.

This is not a Bali-specific scandal. It is a normal procurement risk anywhere the standard is not enforced at the gate, which is why the check happens at delivery rather than at the office.

What we do at delivery

  • Mill certificate and docket against the order for every load
  • Bar diameter checked on arrival, not assumed from the label
  • Sections recorded against the structural drawings before fixing
  • Anything off-spec sent back, which has happened

The person who does that check is named, and he has a page of his own: who checks the concrete.

What confirms it

Mill certificates are ours to produce and ours to keep, which means they are only as good as our word. The external checks that exist are the structural design, the building permit and the certificate of fitness, all published per project with numbers and issuers.

We would rather you ask for the mill certificates and read them than take the phrase “quality materials” from anyone, us included.

Sources, and how to check them
